Boomer's Wonderful Life

boomerhappy.jpg

Hi Everyone,

Today, I went to doggie heaven. My bdff's mom wrote this for me:

To all those who loved Boomer,

On Thursday, March 18, 2010, Boomer passed away due to complications from anesthesia during a routine anterior cruciate ligament surgical repair to his knee. Every attempt was made to revive him, but unfortunately Atlanta Dog Spa's beloved little beagle mascot passed away. Boomer was a one-of-kind beagle, with a face you couldn't help but love, and he will be missed by many.

Though his life did not have a happy beginning, that instantly changed the day his mom adopted him from the Atlanta Humane Society. He spent the first year of his life on what his mom refers to as a puppy farm, the nice term for a puppy mill. After his rough beginning, Boomer lived the life he so deserved, and a life that would elicit envy in even the most spoiled canine. From birthday parties and Bark Mitzvahs to television appearances and black tie affairs, Boomer lived his life to the fullest. He often accompanied his mom to charity events, working most notably to raise awareness and educate the general public about dog fighting and puppy mills, along with fighting for animal rights. He always had a big collection bin ready to accept donations of dog food for dogs not as fortunate as he was.

Boomer loved a good snuggle in a cozy bed with a fleece blankie but could easily be persuaded to play fetch or chase outside, especially in the cold weather. Although winter brought out his frisky side, he also enjoyed sunbathing on a beautiful spring day. He loved going for walks and hikes and if he became tired he'd gladly ride along in a backpack. He often greeted friends with his tail raised high, waving like a flag, as an open invitation to give him a good scratch. Like any good beagle, Boomer loved to eat and enjoyed the finest in canine cuisine, often home-cooked, prepared especially for him by his loving mom. With his wardrobe full of doggie couture, Boomer was always dressed for the occasion, whether it called for a cute bandanna, graphic tee, tuxedo or Michael Jackson costume.

He is THE inspiration and reason for Atlanta Dog Spa.

A public memorial service for those who wish to honor Boomer will be held in the future at a date and time to be announced.

Please take a moment today to remember Boomer and all that he represented.

Boomer's Howloween--Boomer Jackson

Boomer "Jackson"

Hi Everyone,

We just arrived home after a very exciting howloween evening. My mom's friend Jaimie and her sweet dog Sabrina picked Stedman, me and my mom up at our house and drove us to Glamour Paws in VA Highlands. Stedman wore his tux and I of course wore my Michael Jackson costume that was custom made by my grandma.

Well, I won first place and a $75 gift certificate to Glamour Paws. My mom is taking me on a shopping spree next week. Its the first time I've ever won a contest and I'm very proud. I wore my red pleather jacket, sunglasses and of course the silver sequence glove on my right paw.

My mom and Jaimie celebrated my title with us at the W Hotel tonight. They are a pet friendly hotel chain and everyone loved our outfits. Sabrina was Miss Paddington Bear and she wore a pink raincoat.

Hope all the canines had a fun and safe howloween.

Boomer and Stedman Walk the Red Carpet

Lane, Rory & Boomer

On Saturday August 8th, Stedman(my canine brother) and I attended Rory's(my bdff--best doggie friend forever) birthday party in Doggywood. She turned two and her mom really put on a canine star studded event.  We had 2 red carpets, movie trivia, doggie IQ test, canine races and a pinata filled with mini squeaker tennis balls. We got to meet some new yorkies at the party and I was really impressed with Lane, Rory's sister. Her dad held a squeakie toy at the finish line and she was like a doggie lightening bolt!  Congratulations to the overall race winner Prince Michael Henry. He is a fast yorkie!

One of my favorite moments was watching Rory bite into her canine birthday cake. She loves carrot cake with cream cheese and banana icing!

Stedman and I both wore tuxedo tanks from one of our favorite doggie designers, I See Spot. Rory wore a gorgeous custom made dress with two candles sewed on to represent her age. Lane looked equally beautiful in her dress.

Check out the photos from Rory's party on our birthday party photo section. I'm still reminiscing about such a fun birthday party with a fun filled theme.

U.S. Commerce Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

WASHINGTON D.C., June 8, 2009 -- Atlanta Dog Spa has been selected for the 2009 Best of Atlanta Award in the Boarding & Kennels category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
