MLK--The Power of Dreams
Hi Everyone,
As we reflect on this national holiday, we must remember that Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream that he believed could become a reality for the future. Some parts of his dream have come true. Other things are still to become reality.
This year we have a chance to help save the lives of many living creatures all over the US.
Boomer Jr and Stedman's mom (Sarah) will be in Washington DC this Friday in her Congressman's office asking that Congressman John Lewis consider becoming a co-sponsor of a very important federal bill.
The bill is HR 3359--The Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act. If passed, this will ban exotic animals from being used in traveling circuses. These animals have no rights at all. They don't even get to lie down, They stand in rail cars for 18-20 hours a day. They are beaten with bullhooks and also shocked in order to make them perform. Bob Barker has been instrumental in speaking some members of Congress showing them videos of what these wild animals endure.
Did you know that many circus elephants have tuberculosis? Do you want them coming into contact with your children?
We ask you to please take time this week to please call your congress person in your district and ask them to support this federal bill.
You can go to www.house.gov/reprsentatives to find your representative. It is listed by State and District.
If you want more information about HR 3359, go to www.federalcircusbill.org It gives you talking points.
This bill will prevent public safety as well as save taxpayer dollars.
Please can you spare a few moments to call your congress person? Can you make our dream for a more humanse and safe country become a reality?
From my paw to yours,
Boomer the beagle
